About this product
We grow apricots for what happens to them after picking, not for how they look on a shelf. The Danube varieties in our orchards carry more dry matter than dessert types, and that is the whole reason this line behaves the way it does: the halves hold their shape through a bake, they do not collapse into water in a filling, and the colour stays orange rather than turning pale.
Fruit is picked at eating ripeness, moved to the plant in a refrigerated truck, washed, calibrated and destoned, then frozen piece by piece in the tunnel. Eighteen hours from the tree to the freezer. The halves pour out of the carton loose instead of arriving as a block, which is what most buyers actually mean when they ask for IQF.
Customers use this line for bakery fillings, purées, jams and fruit preparations for dairy. The season runs June to July, so ordering is planned around the campaign rather than held in stock all year.
